ARNE HOVMAND OLSEN is a Danish designer and cabinetmaker born in 1919 in Kirkeby Sogn into a family of farmers.
It was in 1938 that he began his training as a cabinetmaker with his “mentor” Peder Olsen Sibast, in the Sibast furniture workshop, on the island of Funen.
In 1941, he continued his studies at the Aarhus Technical School – specializing in furniture design. This diploma allowed him to open his own studio between 1944 and 1945. He then designed furniture that merged classical craftsmanship (he was a cabinetmaker) and the clean modernity of the Scandinavian movement (he was Danish).
His furniture quickly became a success in the United States from the 1950s and 60s onwards.
His trademark: luxurious woods such as teak and rosewood, his technique, and his sense of proportion.
One of its iconic designs: the 175 chairs.
He has also collaborated with many prestigious houses such as Alf Juul Rasmussen, AR Klingenberg & Søn, Bramin, Elven Geertsen, JL Møller, Jutex, Mogens Kold Møbelfabrik, P. Mikklesen, Pedersen & Knap, and Skovmand & Andersen.A dining table and its 6 or 7 chairs (if needed) are currently available at Galerie Bikini!

Yes, but vintage means they have a history: some signs of age (wear, patina, micro-scratches) are visible. These characteristics are described and photographed in each product listing.
