Jørgen Rasmussen was born in 1931. He is a post-war Danish architect who belongs to the functionalist movement, attentive to technology and user comfort.
In 1958, he designed the Kevi office chair for Fritz Hansen, which has since become an international reference in Scandinavian industrial design.
The Kevi is designed for work environments. It is lightweight and robust. Rasmussen developed the double-roller wheel for this purpose, a major innovation patented in 1965, which significantly improved the mobility of office chairs and was subsequently adopted worldwide.
The version presented here, published by Fritz Hansen and produced in Denmark in 2004, retains the founding principles of the original model: a simple design, functional lines and adjustable comfort.
Its base has five legs on casters. It is combined with a circular footrest ring and emphasizes its utilitarian purpose while retaining the understated elegance characteristic of Danish furniture of this period.
The Kevi chair illustrates the spirit of Scandinavian modernism: a constant search for balance between form and function, simplicity and precision.
