The Eames rocking chair was designed by the American design duo Charles & Ray Eames in 1948! The concept: a fiberglass shell that replaced plywood seats.
The advantages of this molded shell are numerous.
It was "cheap" for its time and could be mass-produced. The target market for the "Plastic Group": well, it was everyone!
This shell fits on different bases and plinths - here the Eiffel Tower tilting feet.
Finally, this new mold is both lightweight and strong.
These new chairs will be developed in close collaboration with Herman Miller: Eames X Herman Miller.
The Eames Rocking Chair has become a symbol of modern design, still sought after by design enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
Next, in the same revolutionary material, will come "The Chair"...we love it!
